Is it wrong of me to not let strangers use my cell phone?
A few minutes ago a man knocked on our door and asked to use our phone because he needed to call his friend for a ride. My husband and I have never seen him before, he was a complete stranger. My husband readily gave him the phone to use, and he was in fact being truthful about just simply needing to contact his friend so he could be where he needed to be.I was extremely uncomfortable with this and gave my husband a pretty hard time about it. He says I was being a b ch for not being compassionate to this man's situation. I told him that it's not a matter of being asympathetic, but rather not being foolish about lending something worth quite a lot of money to someone we've never seen before. Our apartment complex is frequently broken into. In fact there was a break in last night. We live in a relatively large city so crime is not uncommon here. This man easily could have run off with his phone. I told him that it would be foolish to ever do the same again, and that making an excuse about having an out of service, or dead phone, would make answering with a " no" a little easier & less uncomfortable. He still thinks I'm being rude here.Opinions?I was not afraid of him breaking into our house. I only mentioned the break ins to show that the crime rate here is pretty high. My only concern was him running off with the phone. I have personally known people who have had someone borrow their phone, only to have them run off with it.

Creepy guy calls my house and cell phone. What to do?
Every so often this guy calls either my cell phone or my home phone. The first time I answered his call, I said " hello" and then he said, " who is this?" and I responded " This is Gavin" and then he hangs up. Then today he called while I was out seeing a movie and so I went out of the auditorium to answer the call. I said " hello" and he said " Are you watching a movie?" and I responded " can I ask who is calling?" and he just repeated the question so I hung up. It seems like this guys is following me or has my information or something because I've lost my wallet a couple of times and I suspect he must have gotten it and all the information in it. Am I just being paranoid or should I contact the authorities or what?

Why do people go to live events/movies just to chat with their friends or text on their cell phones?
I was at an NBA game yesterday in Houston and while I was enjoying the game, I did notice like a group of 5 teenagers where only 2 of them were enjoying the game, and the other 3 were either texting or talking to one another and not really paying attention to the game. It wasn't distracting me or anything but I did find it weird that they spent so much money to go to a live event like a basketball game, or a concert, and not have any interest at all. A coworker of mine described it as going to a movie and typically doing the same thing. I just don't understand why people waste so much money in something they are not interested in. If they just wanted to go to a place to hang out and chat, since the game was in Houston, they could've gone to the Galleria, or something like that. What do you guys think?

Do you think people at a movie theater would get mad if a cell phone went off while they were applauding?
Also, Does anyone else get the urge to yell " SHUT UP " at a shusher just because you think it would be hilarious? I always hear a really loud " SHHHHHHHHH " that breaks the silence, but I never hear whatever they're trying to shush. Why do the shushers have to be so loud?
