If I am recently disabled, have some savings, but no health care coverage.?
I've worked 40 yrs. with type 1 diabetes and saved all along for long term care so I would not burden my family. I am now retired on disability and do not have health care coverage because I have more than $2000.00. I don't want to spend all my savings when I may be able to get assistance with RX costs and insurance coverage. Can I keep my savings out of the equation when I apply for SSI?

According to my most recent issue of KOVELS ON ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES, ' The last applications were accepted on December 31, 2011 . They go on to say, that ' Paperwork for the bonds will now be electronic . Sounds like a savings bond will be a disappointing baby or birthday present from now on a note on a computer screen, not even a fancy picture to go with it ' .Just one more, so called sliver of progress, that makes me glad my days on here on Earth are approaching their end .

Ok, so my situation is like this, I get paid biweekly from work, my net income after taxes is $1730 each paycheck. I put $100 towards my regular savings and $100 towards my tax free savings account. If I earn over $10 in interest in my regular savings, I have to file income tax but I don't have to file any taxes on any interests or gains in my tfsa, and overtime I make more money in my tfsa compared to my regular savings.If this is correct then why bother having a regular savings account at all if I get taxed the money I earned from money that has already been taxed in the first place? I am do confused, can someone please explain the difference and pros and cons between the two?
