Reliable insulation information
How to deal with living underneath noisy neighbors.Lousy sound insulation,crappy hardwood floors.Help!?
I have a studio apartment.I am on the second floor of a 3 story apartment house.When I moved into this apartment it was very quiet.About 3 months into my lease, I started noticing how noisy the neighbors above me have become.Unknown to me, there is a 3 bedroom apartment above me.They are extremely heavy walkers.Heavy boots,shoes and clogs that constantly hit the floor with every step.They seem to never walk barefoot.There is at least 6 grown adults living up there and they all seem to be in the same room at the same time.Walking back and forth between rooms,stomping, dancing and sometimes running.There are hammering sounds a few times a week and they wait until 9pm to start cleaning and vacuuming.People come in and out at all hours of the night kitchen is underneath there stairway .The walls are cheap amd thin.The hardwood floors squeak with every step.There is no sound insulation whatsoever.When they walk the whole ceiling shakes.Complaining don't work.Lease not up until 2009.Help

Insulation schemes for the elderly - Glasgow City Council...?
My wee aunt is 79 this year and her house isn't properly heating up I know some councils have an insulation scheme for the over 70s or sometimes over 75s which means they only pay a percentage of the cost for the insulation. I think it's the loft that needs insulated, but i don't know. She thinks she might not be eligible because it is a bought house and she has money in the bank. The adverts she has seen however say that you only need to be either on benefits OR over 70....anyone have any information?Thanks
Toxic house, OSB, Insulation, carpet?
used some osb board to make some room furniture, now i read it was toxic. The OSB board was painted with Rustoleum Painter's Touch which i believe is a very low VOC paint. If the osb is sealed, then is it still toxic? The underside of one of the tables is still exposed.....Also, workout in the basement where all the OSB from above is exposed, and where some pink insulation is exposed too.Should I be worried about the toxicity of working out in the basement, i usually open the windows.....Also, should i be worried at all? I read a bunch of stuff on the internet, and also worried about the carpets having fire retardant and stuff....Thoughts, advice, input???
